This stock exchange was established by Dutch East India Company in the year 1602 for dealing in printed bonds and stocks and is one of the oldest in the world. By the end of 17’th century, the Amsterdam Stock Exchange established a prominent place in the financial sector. The stock exchange abandoned previous building in 1835 and shifted to the present one in 1913.
Amsterdam Stock Exchange was successfully merged with the Paris Stock Exchange and Brussels Stock Exchange in September 2000 resulting in the formation of Euronext Amsterdam. The Euronext Amsterdam also manages AEX index (consists of 25 biggest companies that trade on Euronext).
